The BuildShare Plan is an initiative by the Lower 9th Ward Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association (NENA) aimed at constructing six affordable housing units in New Orleans' 9th Ward. This project seeks to address the urgent housing crisis, improve residents' health and well-being, and foster community resilience.
The project anticipates housing six families, contributing to a reduction in homelessness and displacement in the Lower Ninth Ward. By providing stable housing, the initiative aims to enhance the quality of life and economic stability for residents.
The estimated budget for the project includes land acquisition, construction materials and labor, infrastructure development, permits and utilities, and ongoing maintenance.
Funding for the BuildShare Plan is currently underway. NENA is actively fundraising through donations, grants, and partnerships with individuals and organizations committed to equitable housing. Your support is vital in making this vision a reality.
Architectural designs and blueprints have been developed to provide a visual representation of the affordable housing units. These plans emphasize sustainability and community integration.
NENA has begun forming partnerships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support the success of the BuildShare Plan.
NENA has previously built 10 houses, positively impacting families in the community. Testimonials and stories from these residents highlight the transformative effect of affordable housing initiatives.
The project includes strategies for long-term sustainability, such as ongoing maintenance and management plans, support services for residents, and community engagement and empowerment programs.
All legal and regulatory requirements, including zoning regulations, building codes, and environmental assessments, are being addressed to ensure the project's compliance and success.
